What You Should Expect

We practice Wing Chun as it was taught directly to SiFu Duncan Leung by Yip Man. It is not just the ideas or concepts of Wing Chun, but actual techniques and strategies taught to SiFu Leung as a private student.

Group classes are intentionally kept small and exclusive. Denver Wing Chun is not a commercial enterprise. Rather, it is a small group determined to perpetuate and maintain SiFu Duncan leungs fighting method exactly as he taught it to his students.

SIFu Duncan Leung is the founder of Applied Wing Chun®. His unique training methods provides the students with a proper understanding and instruction in the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu. His training method also allows his students to gain better fighting skills through the use of Wing Chun in real fighting situations. This is Applied Wing Chun®! He has many students and disciples teaching in various areas of the world. He has since retired from active teaching. But remains active with his Disciples and long time students.

Your first Three  months

Many individuals who begin Wing Chun drop out within the first three months. They discover that the work, effort and commitment required is to high of a price to pay. Things that were new soon become routine, familiar. This is when self discipline and focus is needed to keep on mark.

Wing Chun training requires simultaneous attention to numerous things in one class. We expect students to have a strong foundation of how, why and when this in turn develops the Be, Know, Do mentality. This approach frustrates most students looking for the instant black belt, sash, certificate or a quick rank promotion. We teach a fast paced, definite
training program from the basics to more advanced work. As with any other endeavor, without strong basics, you will have difficulty understanding and doing the more sophisticated parts of the system i.e.The applied learning class. Your advancement in the system is not judged by how much you know, but more of your commitment,
trustworthiness, and dedication; these cannot be measured by a belt, sash, or certificate but only the standards you set for yourself.

As a new student your attention will be focused on structure and mechanics to introduce the proper feeling in the neuromuscular pathways. You will learn to move your body correctly, without thinking about it, freeing the mind to focus on the situation at hand.  Along with repetitive practice, the movements and drills will help instill them into your
muscle memory, becoming second nature.
